Environmental Sustainability as a way to ensure National Travel & Tourism Competitiveness

Enlightened self-interest dictates that countries which want their travel and tourism industries to be more competitive, at a time of economic downturn, need to address the issue of environmental sustainability.

The World Economic Forum's Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report 2008 provides analysis and guidance on the tough challenges facing the industry, with environmental sustainability at the forefront.

Taking the report as a starting point, the panel of experts discusses the importance of the link between sustainability and competitiveness to the future of the travel and tourism industry.
